30-second check
Your phone or tablet needs two things: eSIM support and no carrier lock. The EID number is the quickest sign of support.
Open Settings → General → About and scroll down. If you see an EID number or a Digital SIM section, your device supports eSIM. On iPad, only Wi-Fi + Cellular models have one.
On a phone, open the phone app and dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, it supports eSIM. On any Android device, you can also look for Add eSIM under Settings, then Connections or Network.
Devices bought on contract may be locked to one carrier and will reject other eSIMs. On iPhone or iPad, Carrier Lock under About should say No SIM restrictions. On Android, ask your carrier.
